The weight of long hair keeps it straight. When short, however, the hair tends to take on a wavey characteristic. I have my yorkie, Coco, trimmed every 2½ to 3 months during the warm weather. During the winter I let it grow out a bit, the weather also seems to have some effect on the shine and thickness of the hair. When the hair is short a good combing should suffice. PLEASE bundle up your yorkie as much as comfortably possible. My yorkies start to shiver instantly when they go out in the winter.
